Would be awesome except the whole ‘Rainbow Dash’ bit. Scootaloo by herself is a way cooler character than Dash. She’s a character who does cool shit on her scooter randomly and doesn’t even think to point it out. Dash does something cool and goes ‘OMFG I’M AWEZOME!!!” kinda taking away from it instantly.
 
Scootaloo can have a personality away from Dash, just making her a Rainbow Dash clone is massively boring.

Or maybe having earth ponies for parents. Would explain lack of flying lessons and need to connect with Rainbow Dash.

I kind of wish there were more stories where Scoot is an orphan, but is happy nonetheless.
