Y’know, now that we don’t have to write her off as some one-dimensional one-shot villain, it sort of just hit me.
 
With her being Celestia’s first personal student before Twi, one of the most intelligent and the most naturally gifted unicorns of the age, and having almost the same cutie mark and affinity as Celestia…
 
…Sunset Shimmer is the closest thing to a daughter and heir that Celestia has. Not blinded by worship or destiny, just a complex mix of hate and adoration.
 
She IS Celestia’s legacy…
