Also, this is a stark departure from Beavernator’s usual pictures involving cute babies.

I’m going to admit, the first video game reference that hit me while reading this was Kreia.
I love you forever for that Jade Empire reference.
I’ve never played the series; coming in blind, I assumed from the tone of the beginning of his speech that this was somebody morally gray, an ambiguous, anarchistic quasi-mentor; he came out of the gate sounding like Morpheus of The Matrix or Master Li of Jade Empire before we get a complete picture of Master Li. By the time I got to the end of his speech, I knew a little better :) – although from this, it sounds like he’s just a greedy p–– who carelessly grabbed the first self-justifying ideology he could find.
I do like the part where Sunset Shimmer figures as a religious fundamentalist and/or target of religious fundamentalism… but it’s a good thing Equestria got Discord instead of this guy.
Wait, you thought the CoD character this was based on was the good guy? He’s the head of the World’s largest PMC, significant enough to get a seat on the UN council, a budget larger than most countries, and quite often pulls a coup in those countries “to provide the leadership they need.” Even if you’re working for him, he ain’t a good guy.
That said, I’m getting the impression from this speech that this character’s Call of Duty counterpart is the bad guy.
(Why have so many villains of popular culture read too much Nietzche and too little about the Dark Ages? Why can’t we just have Sunset Shimmer-type figures who are just about ambition, neither motivated by nor bothering to excuse themselves with some manner of perverse ideology?
(For that matter, why can’t we see more works of popular culture with someone like that as the hero?)
