Yeah, a Mane 6 vs Alt-Mane 6 fight doesn’t seem that interesting. What made the confrontation between Celestia and her alternate so dramatic was that they had the power to destroy each other in an instant, not to mention they’re worlds were at stake. If they re-explore the alternate universe, along with the alt-6, I would be very interested in seeing a plot where two groups have to work together for some goal they both want. One a team of heroes and one a team of anti-heroes.
Them not having an elevated status in that world makes their group’s motivations and loyalties unclear, which is for the best so there is flexibility in a future arc. Them working together would allow the Mane 6 to see aspects of their personalities that they repress, but also have the Alt-Mane 6 see aspects of their personalities that they repress as well. The purer the hero,(lack of amoral habits) the more perversion of their personality they see. The greyer the hero(not nessesarily less heroic then the pure heroes), the more simularities they see.
Since the Mane 6 is composed of both pure(ex. AJ) and grey characters (ex. RD), they wouldn’t necessarily stay disconnected from each other, but perhaps even learn some things. After all, even though there are no elements of harmony in their dimension and they don’t have super strong morals, they ARE still a group.
One thing that would interest me is Celestia and Good Chrysalis. It would be interesting for Celestia meeting someone seemingly even older then herself besides Discord.
Yeah, the Fringe influence is pretty obvious. Which is weird because I haven’t even SEEN Fringe, so I have no idea how I’m even able to notice.
Having the prime mane 6 fight their counterparts would be just as trite.
What Katie did, probably with some input from Andy, was write a story that did what Fringe tried to do, balance science fiction with human drama, which is not easy. It’s not a perfect story and has bad pacing problems, but their goal wasn’t to be too cliche either way.
Exactly ^^
You know what I thought by the ending of this story arc? In the very few times the anti mane 6 appeared (such as in Katie’s short comics), they didn’t even seem all that different from the regular mane 6 despite their appearances. I would have loved to see more anti mane 6.
I want to see more Reversalis! Watching her interact with Chrysalis would be entertaining!
Because they did nothing with the concept. Having the villains meet their alt selves would be a blast.
Although the real sin was that the alt mane 6 didn’t even see each other. The whole arc was page after page of wasted potential, with a side of romantic plot tumor.
One Reflections disaster was enough, thank you very much.
