God died first, I’m not going anywhere
“Nietzche is dead.” -God
SHINKA.
The Moon god might be dead, but the Sung god thrives!
You have to exist in order to die.
(That is not possible!”
Suppose instead of an atheist stereotype the “professor” had been a stereotype of some other religious group, and that they had similarly relied on the prejudice and bigotry of the audience towards that group in order to sell the conflict. Would you feel the same? If not, why?
Actually, I’ve seen several Christian movie reviewers criticize the movie for its writing, its propagandistic nature, and its black-and-white, us-vs-them mentality. Which is a shame, because I’d love to see a good, honest movie on this subject from a Christian perspective.
Well, if the movie makes a clear statement regarding it’s standing (and it appears it does based on the trailer), as well as it’s arguing for something (same), then people who disagree with that reasoning will be understandably upset.
This is a blatant propaganda movie, and all of it seems to be affected by it.
It got terrible reviews from critics, but great average reviews from the general population.
There’s a pretty clear religious line as to who likes it or dislikes it, though. Then again, most of the arguments against it are not against the movie itself (such as the acting, the writing, etc), but rather people being highly offended over it being a Christian movie. In fact, the vast majority of negative reviews from non-critics that I’ve read base their argument against the quality of the movie in the same way that they’d argue against someone saying that they believe in God.
Actually, I’ve seen the same arguments for that recycled to claim that the movie is bad. Some reviews touch on more than this, but it’s clear from these arguments making up most of the review that their view on the quality of the movie (and interpretation of scenes) is skewed because of their views.
Seems I took my own bait.
This movie looks über painful.
