Probably just artistic license.

Similar to:

USA - Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage
EU - Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer

The developers in the US saw the japanese title, and the katakana looked like it spelled “Ripto”, so they made it the title. Not sure about EU though.
