Mortimer the Mouse Faust Reveals 2008 Cast Sketches
By DerpySquad August 31, 2011,
“Its kind of like fishing, you wait around long enough, something interesting is bound to pop up. Earlier today Lauren Faust released 14 sketches from the 2008 series that would become part of the FiM Bible on her DeviantArt account. It includes a few what could have been things which are interesting.
The above is something someone noticed, Mortimer the Mouse, aka the original concept of Fluttershys companion character.
The rest of the dA pictures if you havent seen them (HA..) is behind the page break. Also included are quotes from Lauren Faust (the ones with the da green backgrounds).
Enjoy!

Thank god, too. Look at the colors. The original concept art mane 6 have a drastically reduced color palette.
Ooooooh. Now it makes sense.
Their manes – both are purple and white striped. That and their cutie marks are similar.
I think the joke was supposed to be G1 Twilight’s aged a bit since “My Little Pony and Friends”, and now she’s an old gray mare.
Hmm… Twilight and Pinkie Pie are pretty much palette swaps, and AJ and Flutters have the exact same palettes… But Rarity and Rainbow Dash look different from their G1 concept arts…
Also, here’s another thing I’ve been trying to get answered for ages: Everyone keeps saying that Twilight Velvet looks like G1 Twilight. But G1 Twilight is clearly pink, whereas Twilight Velvet is gray. So where’s the resemblance?

Nice to know I wasn’t the only one who thought of that.
I was sure we had at least a bit of fanart?…or at least one colored version of this?…didn’t we?…
(searches frantically)
