Well, we can’t assume it’s a ship. They are just standing next by each other, posing. Unless that was the intention.

seriously though, if it was clear that the “artist”, and I use that term loosely, did anything other than copy and paste in photoshop to create this, then i would be fine with it.

You seriously going to have the whole franchise ruined for you because that one horrible game? Okay, so the series had a few bad games, but I still like the games. The good ones. I know many hate the 3D ones, but some work out. I’ve enjoyed Colors and Generations a lot. I’m just saying, the crossovers is a bit annoying, especially Sonic x Rainbow. They pair them because they go fast, and they are blue. I shake my head.
