Well the primary reason (besides Vlad Tepes being a certified badass) is that in my headcanon, Spike’s middle name is Dracula.
 
Though for other lame puns related to spike: he shares a name with Dracula’s favorite method of execution.
 
He also may be the once and future ruler of Canterlot since he’s a Pendragon afterall. (Ya know, because the often takes dictation for Twilight and others. Do ya get it?)

Its not everyday that someone makes a refference to “Dracula’s” true meaning which fits perfectly for Spike jokes. Then again, I don’t think many people are even aware of it.

I love this Spike. Really this is still a bit different from that show (obviously you could never have a Spike like this when making something for little girls) but it’s more in line with his Season 1 / 2 character than modern Spike ever was. That heavily-sarcastic ‘Twilight why are you being so dumb’ type of Spike. So good.
