No, on its own merits it’s pretty bad. The acting was wooden, the sets were flimsy and the ways in which it tried to integrate Mario elements felt random and forced.
There’s a reason Nintendo doesn’t want to do movie adaptations anymore.
That would be the second best.

It was a good film, but it wasn’t a adaptation of a video game so it dosen’t count.
If it counts the so do the Pokemon movies but as they are an extension of the anime they don’t count.
I have to say the first Mortal Kombat movie was the best.
but what about wreck it ralph, sure it’s not based on a real video game, but it has real video game characters in it so it counts.
About that
1: People call it bad for not being Mario, they don’t think about it beyond being an adaptation, on it’s own merits it isn’t bad.
2: That is true.
yeah i agree it’s an awful adaptation of super mario bros but by it’s self it’s not that bad
1: Mario Bro’s was not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
2: Hook needs more love.
