The show is definitely “feminist” in a way, but nothing in the setting nor characters meets “equality”.
Okay, yeah I see now. I’ve never even thought of it like that :P Hell, I think that’s the reason I got into this show: I could care less if something is ‘meant for girls’ or whatever, if I like it (Like MLP or embroidery, seriously, don’t judge). I just normally don’t touch stuff like Barbie or whatever because it’s written moronically. I always thought people were literally getting a total, as you put it, ““Ra ra women rules, burn our bras!” vibe from it.
As for Pinkiepony, I still don’t understand how anyone could sympathize with her. That had to be the most asinine, aggrandizing little hate blog I ever saw. It did nothing positive, accomplished nothing, and did nothing more than use ad hominem attacks and bullying to accomplish it’s ‘goals’. And what bugs me most is she claims it was trying to defend feminism (that’s the best I could word it) when in reality I got the direct opposite vibe from her. To me, it’s very clear she’s just upset that men dare to enjoy a show that is ‘meant for girls’ and that she had a very specific vendetta against John Joseco. That really bugs me, that she would cheapen the value of a movement that wants equality, and use it to her own personal ends.
Buuuuuut… that’s a different rant for a different time. I made an 8 paragraph long rant in one of the “Down With Molestia” forums here, so I’m not going to inflict it on y’all here.
Oh, that’s how.
That was gonna confuse me for days.
Well yea, that is a bad move on her part.
@DanielTepesKraus
Well the feminist goal at it’s core is equality for male and female. While the show isn’t “Ra ra women rules, burn our bras!” It is a show that’s on equal footing to most cartoons for little boys in term of writing, character and animation.
Also, if I may ask an honest question, what exactly makes this show feminist? It was made by a feminist, yes, but what underlying gender issues have ever even been mentioned in the show?
Maybe so, but she’s one of the ones who thinks Pinkiepony, who redefined what it is to be an asshole, is a victim so…
True, not disputing her list. I just thought the hate this blogger get would be more…substantiated, but her list of what makes a bad brony is actually pretty legit.
Well…those are asshole things.
Anonymous said: So, I have a question. You say that you are against “bad” bronies, and welcome any bronies that are against the majority of the fandom. Yet, I never see anywhere in your blog what you consider to be a “bad” brony. Could you please clarify this point for me?
How many times to have to explain this?! BAD BRONIES ARE ASSHOLES.
Bad Bronies:
Excluding woman fans
excluding children fans
not tagging your porn
leaving racist comments on PoC humanizations
leaving transphobic and homophobic comments on art of ponies (and humanizations)
ignoring that the show is feminist.
Who the fuck does she consider the “bad” bronies? I mean if you’re going to label a group of people, at least set some guidelines on what makes them “bad”.
Posted on a hate blog.
What.
@NCPilot
It does appear to have been posted on an anti-brony blog, but was not made by the blog’s owner. No wonder it took so long to find the source…
Do you have proof of this, or are you just spouting bullshit?
