god, why do i keep coming back to it.
@Itsthinking I want to see a One Piece pirate named Legbeard now. She’ll look like she’s wearing ermine fur boots, but they’re really her hair. And her attacks will revolve around turning them into nettles and kicking them at people.
IS ONLY MISSING YOUR SCREAMS!
It has nothing to due with her being female and everything to due with her being Nonon. This is totally something she’d do for Halloween or a con or just to piss people off. It’s in character.
… Well, mostly in character. She’s Japanese, so it’s unlikely she’d do this because this isn’t a part of her cultural context, but it totally something she’d do if she were American.
>Some things aren’t serious, but repeat them enough and idiots will believe them.
Eeyup.
Hence why this happened:
Imagine seeing it day in, day out and you cannot go anywhere where they aren’t said. Everyone thinks they’re hilarious, and think that they’re hilarious because they have an inbuilt dislike of these people. For dressing in a way they don’t like.
Pot usually is calling the kettle black is all I’m saying.
I fail to see how this is in any way mean-spirited right here. It’s a gentle ribbing, not some kind of hateful, vitriolic rant.
What exactly about this is so insulting to anyone?
Call people who disagree with you whiny, nice. This shit is bullying no matter how you slice it, and would be absolutely unacceptable if it were rhe opposite gender even as a joke.
Imagine being one of these people, told that society will accept you as you are, just, you know, as long as they’re like us.
It’s not a straw man if it isn’t an exaggeration. I’ve seen people use it like that.
Like I said, at least she’s kinda pretty. Seems like a harmless parody to me.
Says who? Most of the time I’ve seen it outside of Tumblr or /r/cringepics it’s a joke. You know, like this.
Oh, quit strawmanning, you whiny bastard. I never once said bullying is okay or that it’s something that should be condoned.
What I’m saying is that complaining about a joke as though it’s the same thing as actual bullying is pointless and stupid.
Some things aren’t serious, but repeat them enough and idiots will believe them.
Those two places have more pull, so it’s about bullying everywhere.
Stop bullying, unless the person being bullied is someone you don’t like. It’s okay then.
It’s only used mostly for bullying on places like Tumblr or Reddit’s /r/cringepics. Everywhere else it’s usually just a joke.
You ‘‘cannot’’ possibly argue that this image is in any way serious. Neither can you argue that it’s serious in any of the other images that you’ve been constantly been bitching about.
But they are serious about it and it’s scary. At what point does “self depreciation” apply?
An insult is only a joke when it isn’t serious, and this insult is serious 99% of the time I see it now.
Insults are not always mean-spirited. A lot of comedy comes from making simple jabs at certain people without being too serious about it.
When this meme is used on places like Reddit or Imgur, it’s often just a light-hearted jab or an attempt at self-depreciation.
How exactly is relating an article of clothing to a negative personality not mean-spirited? It’s not even a joke anymore, people use this as an insult.
Not really. If you can’t take a simple joke that isn’t mean-spirited or hurtful, then you’re being insecure.
Switching from “it’s not mean-spirited at all, it’s a joke” to “you’re the real insecure loser who just can’t take it, loser” is a rather self-defeating attack.
