Tina’s predicament will probably be what breaks it and make him realize this was all originally about her: a sentiment these two guys’ll hopefully get behind.
BTW I love bob’s burgers.
Yeah, I think you desgribed how those shows would handle the situation perfectly. We’re probably better off with a more subtle dry-humor show like Bob’s Burgers, then with something like “Family Guy,” which seems out to insult everyone, as much as possible. Heck they had a whole preachy episode dedicated to bashing Texas once, and once had 3 episodes in a row with strong anti-religion morals in them…
Family Guy & South Park are usually pretty one-sided, (sometimes they have a point on some things…) so if they were to do a parody of bronies, they’d probably just make us out to be a bunch of perverts, creeps, and such like Howard Stern did.
The goofy horse costumes in this image are practically a compliment compared to that.
@Background Pony #8683
He’s a good artist, (though looks a bit to influenced by MAD magazine) but as you say his sense of humor is kinda odd/shallow, and just seems like cheap attempts to be edgy. Half the time, I can’t even understand the “message” is satirical pics are trying to say.
American Dad made fun of furries once, although it wasn’t the story drive of the episode.
*Godwin Law
(but Godwin lawn is fine too XD)
The thing is with ZOMGurtSibling is thathe dont belive we’re nazis. In true troll fashion,he claim thing he doesnt believe. Not to mention slapping swatiska in your grotesque drawning is the laziest way to do satire.
Curt Sibling is a living breathing Godwin Lawn and as such as a satirist,he worth nothing (Your opinion may vary about his artistic talent however,i wont judge on that)
I know some of the people that knew they were the butt of CBG jokes (big posters at alt.tv.simpsons at the time), and yes, they were pretty “wtf”. (Counter this to Please Please Pleese Get a Life Foundation from Animaniacs which was made as a more loving parody of the online fans of that group, and most of us completely loved it).
The lit for this Bob’s Burger episode has stated that is more a homage that a down-grading parody, but we’ll have to see.
South Park would never do it because it’s too niche. Same reason they never made fun of furries.
@K_A
What the hell was that comic, seriously?
Comic Book Guy was inspired by actual attitudes caught on the Simpsons newsgroup at the time (“Worst episode ever!”, etc.), which made him a well-received parody of fanboys in general.
I’m likewise hoping for something more incisive than the typical jokes (and random, disconnected humor a la My Little Phony) in this parody.
You just described nearly every internet meme to ever exist.
You’re probably thinking of something else. Futurama and Family Guy are the ones that were cancelled and brought back due to popular outcry. Futurama was still mostly good afterward, Family Guy… wasn’t.
Either way, I do think Bob’s Burgers is a good show, it’s pretty funny. It’s probably the best primetime cartoon to make a Brony episode, South Park would undoubtedly make fun of bronies in the meanest way possible, and Family Guy would either make it a punchline or have it be made into some extremely heavy-handed moral. The Simpsons might be better about it, but there’s a 50/50 chance it’ll either be kinda good or just really boring.
Mildly amusing when it’s everywhere? And the punchline to every joke? And the insult for every possible argument?
Looks pretty mediocre to me.
Didn’t the show die, and then people whined enough that they brought it back?
Humor is subjective. I find fedora jokes funny, or at least mildly amusing. I frequent Reddit, so most of the time I see it it’s meant in jest.
They’re shit jokes. That’s what they are. They’re very bad jokes, and no one has any sense of comedy.
Comic Book Guy has been making fun of comic book fans for more than two decades now, but do they get really upset about him?
Between this and the whole thing with you freaking out over “tips fedora”, I’m getting the impression you don’t really understand the difference between a simple parody or light-hearted jab and actual hate.
Aside from seeing guys in horse costumes, I don’t really see what any of these “horrible, same jokes” are, seeing how it’s not even out yet. Save your complaining, and offended-ness for after it comes out, at least.
In fact, it looks like the main character Bob is actually having fun hanging around them.
OTOH, this “superfan” might be a poke at certain aspects of the whole phenom, so I won’t wave it off just yet.
As long as I don’t see a literal caricature of myself on there–I was in a couple of awkward situations as is and heard several taunts and insults about me behind my back–I’ll survive.
Please. I’m sick of that bullshit and I’m sick of the same goddamn jokes over and over again. That’s what they always are.
Well, from the pictures shown so far, this almost looks like a compliment compared to the things brony-haters usually say/make. Besides, not all parodies are done out of hate, and some people who’ve done parodies say they actually have nothing against bronies. (And still get crap for it.) Star Wars, or Star Trek fans, and such get made fun of to.
Also, let’s not start this “we bronies are constantly persecuted” thing. (Like the furry fans do…) While I’m not going to deny there’s brony-haters out there, and how much Tumblr loathes us, we shouldn’t get so easily offended at everything.
At least they aren’t comparing us to “nazis” like that CurtisSibling artist does.
This.
I’m always told to have a sense of humor while this fandom gets shat on constantly. There’s a difference between laughing and yourself and not stop, unwanted, sodomy.
I’ve “laughed at myself” enough. I wish people would just leave us the fuck alone.
Bob’s Burgers is mediocre?
