I made this. Just for funnies … there is no source as it was posted here first.
And some people would argue that willful self-deprivation for the sake of some metaphysical “balance” or spiritual ideal is an absurd delusion.
I say the folly lies in assuming that different people are all satisfied (or should be satisfied) by the same things. Buddhists can attain enlightenment and give up material wealth and if they dig that, great. For me happiness is a working computer and Japanese food, and money can buy both of those.
A lot of people would argue the opposite.
A large part of Buddhism is based off the idea that the acquisition of material wealth and possessions leads to suffering.
But you can buy plenty of things that will make you happy.
