Horse-news is from /mlp/, which is full of whiny little thin-skinned bitches who delight in acting as if their negative opinions of pretty much everything about the show since Lauren H. Christ left are somehow objective fact. They hate Equestria Daily, because the attitude of commenters is mostly positive and whenever 4channers wander in and whine about how terrible everything is for contradicting their headcanon, they get called out on their bullshit.

It all depends, really. I’ve seen reasonable discussion between people who didn’t like an episode and people who liked the same episode countless times over there. But at the same time, there ARE people who actually do fit the “asshole” and “whiner” designations. Even this site has people like that on both sides.
 
But you do have a point. Sometimes we do get a little sensitive about criticism and end up acting defensive when the person’s points are in fact valid. On the other hand, sometimes debates over the merits of certain episodes that occur over there can sometimes lead to people changing their own opinions. It’s happened with me a few times (I used to think that the Mare-Do-Well episode was terrible. Now it’s just kind of “meh” in my opinion).

EQD commenters can’t seem to tell the difference between “asshole” and “critic”.

Except not. I frequent that site, and while there certainly is some of that, most of the ridicule directed at negative comments is when the negative comments come from assholes and whiners, and EQD is also where that “Hasdrone” phrase originated, where people who didn’t like certain things regularly insult people that did like those things.

Pretty accurate, yeah. To EQD comment sections, every new episode is “BEST EPISODE EBUR” and if you say anything negative, you’ll be ridiculed to no end.
