I’ve been a fan of Half Life for 3 years (last game was 5 years old), so I could be surprised.
And I’m willing to bet I’m far from alone in that regard.
Because the huge surge in popularity it had made me think most people jumped on it because “I can like girl shows without being perceived as a wuss,” but I guess PPG would’ve gone through the same thing if it was made during the internet’s modern times.
