Dash’s lanky figure and katana position reminds me of Mugen from Samurai Champloo. And I can’t get enough of how Sundown draws Fluttershy~

Its pretty simple…
 
  1. Elves and Samurai are more well known then Hopilites.  
  2. Having wings that can cut through wood, stone or even dragon scale is awesome, but with wings that wouldn’t be battle ready on a human body, the natural inclination is say ‘give that bitch a katana. Bitches love katanas’ to go with the whole shonen powers vibe here.  
  3. Plus, RD and Fluttershy make a good Zoro and Kenshin. Although people who don’t know Kenshin’s duality aspect might not see the connection between him and Fluttershy.

I’m always a fan of the elf ears for humanized Unicorns, but is there some reason the Pegasi are samurai?

Personally I love the idea of Fluttershy wielding a sword. She’s normally sweet and kind, but she can get a little scary when she’s angry.

Excellent humanizations! I particularly like how Fluttershy is wearing “rougher”/ more durable clothing. She works with animals, she isn’t going to be wearing a sundress and slip-on shoes.
 
But there’s one thing I’m not so positive on:
 
Maybe it’s because I’m male and have no experience with wearing high-heeled shoes, but it looks like Rarity is just one false step from twisting an ankle with those shoes.
