Transcending her previous physical form probably helped.
I just remembered that in ‘The Best Night Ever’ she transformed 4 of Fluttershy’s mice into horses. Though the transformation wasn’t perfect and she really needed to focus to get it done, it doesn’t mean that Twilight is playing much more God in S4.
Right now that I’m writing this I also remembered Twilight’s magic surge as a filly. She freakin transformed her parents into cactuses. Alright I rest my case, Twilight has always been pretty OP xD
It’s only natural for her magic to grow as the show progresses. Especially for a ultra determined magician such as Twilight.

She still doesn’t have much in the way of common sense most of the time.
I’m not saying she’s stupid or anything, but the magic solves everything way she looks at problems that are big doesn’t help in most cases.
In season one, she became exhausted simply giving Rarity butterfly wings. Nowadays, full body transformations on all 6 of them is nothing.
