maybe the staff just decided to aply some kind of character-regression to the whole season writting-wise, for whatever reason.
i think rarity’s rant in coco-pomel’s episode was, although very funy, realy out of place for her, even if under presure.

Pinkie Pie was not the antagonist of the episode, although she was being (albeit hopefully unintentionally) a colossal jerk. The antagonist of the episode was Fluttershy herself, wrestling with her social anxiety.
Fluttershy episodes are usually like that–poor kid is her own worst enemy.

Agreed, that exchange between she and Big Mac near the end was epically hilarious.
…so, the fact that Fluttershy was crying and running away isn’t enough of a clue that Pinkie’s doing more harm to her than good.
It’s not over-analysis, it’s pretty clear that Pinkie wasn’t helping at all. And the fact that she remained oblivious to how insensitive she was being is just bad writing.
It’s a clue!
Yeah, I’m understanding now where RD fans were coming from with that.
Well the whole point was that Fluttershy was acting up in that episode. That was the point. There is literally no reason for Pinkie to be such an ass in this episode, other than a slightly lame gag. I don’t like ringing the bell of doom but the writers really seem to be flanderising her this season. She’s getting the RBD Season 2 treatment.
Also, most fans took that scene quite lightly compared to Pinkie here.
She was explicity absolved of any blame in that episode by her friends. Meanwhile, Pinkie gets the coldest scolds I’ve seen in the series.
No it wasn’t. That was the action that made Shy realize how terrible she was being.
Just like S2 RD that was quite irritating this season Pinkie is being a bit too, lets say, joke-y
