Happy Valentine’s Day and also Lantern Festival ()! I wanted to do a little Sparity Valentine’s Day pic, and since it’s also coincidentally the last day of the New Year celebration in the Chinese lunar calendar I figured I’d reflect that here. The lantern is red to symbolize good fortune, and letting it go during the festival means that you’re letting go of your old self to live as a new person in the new year. The ai character on the lantern isn’t exactly usual, but I wanted it there to give it that Valentine’s Day feel since it means “love.” Finally, one commonly solves riddles on the lantern before letting it go. Looks like Spike solved the riddle of Rarity’s heart.
