Oh yeah they did listen to her then.
 
So they believe her when she says her future self came to her to warn her about a supposed “calamity”; but don’t listen to her when she needs help with a letter or accuses her childhood babysitter who’m she loves of being evil.

They don’t take her seriously when she panics and makes a scene. She was high-strung in the future episode, but stated her case calmly and logically, enough so that they trusted her.
 
In the finale, she flipped her shit and screamed “MY FOALSITTER IS BEING A BITCH! SHE’S EVIL!” and made a fool of herself.

I think the actual aesop for those episodes should be, “Sometimes you just have to take your friends word on it.”
 
Because if they did, the season finale would have ended right there and Twilight wouldn’t have mass charmed ponyville into liking a doll!!

To be absolutely fair, it was kind of hard to take her seriously when she made her argument so poorly. Had she remained calm, stated the facts, and basically said “Cadence doesn’t seem to recognize me, and is behaving very oddly. I’d like to suggest a formal investigation, maybe ask her a few personal questions.”
