Sometimes. It might stand for something else, or might just be DJ with no longer meaning.
Of course, the name Disk Jockey wouldn’t be odd by pony standards, either.
DJ Is short for Disk Jockey.
I… What?
Aside from the fairly simple idea that DJ is short for something, DJ isn’t an odd name by real world standards, and Pony would fit in with (Mayor) Mare or (Cranky Doodle) Donkey just fine.
Actually, on second thought, DJ is a oddly human name for a pony.
And if “Adagio Dazzle” turns out to be a different character from DJ PON-3, will you admit she was right about this and you were wrong?
Maybe they just named her DJ. It’s not that uncommon of a name.
She just tacked on PON3 as a stage name.
I mean, what kind of a parent names her child “Sweetie” or “Derpy”? Pony names aren’t supposed to make sense.
I’m pretty sure Pon-3 is her DJ name and Viynl Scratch is her real name, because she would have messed up parents to name her “DJ Pon-3”
(But you guys can keep calling her Vinyl if you wanna)
And then a nap.
I think you’re mixing your shows there.
Ponytones will be featured in the Fluttershy episode Filli Vanilli.
Adagio (Dazzle) will be featured in EQG 2 in some way. Either as a friend or foe. It would make 0 sense to have a deluxe singing doll version of a character that’s just a recolor or toy and not a character in the book/movie.
Don’t believe her lies.
Licensed merch. That’s like saying WeLoveFine shirts are canon.
@Prof.NightJack
Hasbro also approved the “Element of Love” and other inconsistencies on the cards, as well as inconsistencies in the comic. Unless Hasbro (and I do mean Hasbro. Not a third party company/officially licensed merch)puts out merchandise with the name Vinyl Scratch or names her in the show, that shall remain her “accepted fanon” name. And the canon name is DJ PON-3. (I know a few people named Deejay so it’s not that bad of a name for a pony. Don’t know why folks insist that she needs a “real” name that’s completely different from her “stage” name.
Pony names are ridiculous anyway. Bulk Biceps? Golden Delicious? Heck, even Rarity sounds like a stripper’s name.
How does an image you posted prove anything?
Oh stop that and if your joking the joke isn’t even funny.
Also it’s not like that could put the cards out without Hasbro’s okay, so if Hasbro didn’t want to use the name Vinyl Scratch then it wouldn’t be on the card.
This from a 2012 licensing expo
Citation needed?
The Enterplay collectible card is the only mention of Vinyl Scratch as a name for her, AFAIK. And Enterplay cards aren’t written by Hasbro. They even consulted with bronies on the info, so they’re basically extended fanon that got licensed by Hasbro.

Well that’s the thing with the multiverse they ARE the same character, but at the same time they are NOT the same character. ( it’s kinda like taking the Ace of hearts out of two different deck of cards, they are the same card but at the same time different in there own way ).
As for the name could just be Hasbro’s marketing team again. Kinda like how Mrs. (Cup)Cake’s toy name is Mrs. Dazzle Cake, or like you said could be a Batman/Owlman case.
Which is good, but the trading cards also labeled Cadance and Shining Armor as the “Element of Love”. I’m hoping for something directly from Hasbro that used “Vinyl Scratch”.
