Pinkie is chronically depressed. That deflated hair pony you saw, that’s really her. But does like to attempt to get others to smile.
 
Rarity is a trained actress trying to reach her way to the big leagues. She doesn’t know the first thing about fashion other than the occasional magazine she sees Twilight with.
 
Applejack is…Applejack. She just kinda wandered on stage one day and they decided “Eh screw it. Put her in.”
 
Celestia and Luna made the show, and cast themselves as the head honchos to make themselves feel important.
 
Chrysalis and Sombra are just some friends they got to play a role.
 
Discord came off the ever popular Star Trot, after playing the well loved “P”. Unlike some others he likes his role and was glad to get some more screen time.

Dash is a classically trained actress and a lesbian. Gilda is her IRL partner, who she met at a King Lear casting call.
 
Twilight (the actress, not her character) is not particularly bright, but really wishes she was as smart as her character. She tries acting as smart as the show’s Twilight, but it’s abundantly clear the only things she’s read since high school other than scripts are celebrity gossip magazines.
 
Fluttershy’s normal speaking voice is that of a chain smoking diner hag.

Spielberg writing an MLP episode? Sure, why not.

I don’t think this would work the way we think it would come out.
 
The 2 shows have a very different style and they clash so combining them would probably feel too jumbled.
