Everything about how Rarity treated Spike in “Dragonquest” directly fed his paranoia about being seen as too little and not masculine. It was almost as though the staff thought “Ooops! We went too far in ‘Secret of My Success’! Better turn Rarity into Spike’s great-aunt who squeezes his cheeks and speaks to him in a shrill voice like he’s a pre-schooler quick!”
You might have a point if she was batting her eyes at him and acting like the Rarity we’d seen before that, the one he had a crush on, and not the “suddenly family” Rarity we saw in “Dragonquest,” but as it stands the theory doesn’t pass muster.
It’s possible, I guess, but the odds would be very much against it.
So since we don’t know how they work, then he MUST be either to young or too old?
No third option where he’s the perfect age? Seems arbitrary.
^ Her affections there are pretty much a complete opposite to how she usually treats him. Yet if people are going to say that he was disregarded or somehow friendzoned by her in that episode then, they haven’t been watching the same programing.
Are you sure we watched the same episode? Because her little plays of affection aren’t really what I would call “swooning over him.”
^ Yeah, it’s getting really old.
Also, Dragonquest: an entire episode where Spike ignores Rarity while she swoons over him.
(Fans claim Spike is the one who got friendzoned)
^ I don’t get the fanbase sometimes.
There’s plenty of fish in the sea, it’s always the darkest before dawn, yadda yadda, go chase Rarity’s sister instead.
…Or Applejack…Yes…
But seriously, does anybody actually find this funny anymore? Maybe the first time, but the forty second time and it’s just the same joke over and over again.
