I’m still holding out hope for them, just as I’m still holding out hope for Lightning Dust herself. We know so little about them, it seems too early to just give them the Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon Stamp of Disapproval and call it a day.

My point is the similarity of her personality to the existing members. They pretty much deserve each other.

You know, if it weren’t for Dash’s accusations causing Lightning Dust to be kicked out, LD could very well be a Wonderbolt by now, as similar as she is to the current members, Spitfire included.

I think you’re being a tad presumptuous. Spitfire isn’t Lightning Dust, I think she just isn’t afraid to make the harder, “better” decision. Fleetfoot however just might be, hard to say. Soarin’ I see as more of a Johnny from MGS4; a bit of a bumbling idiot, but an underdog and ultimately (if coincidentally) useful.

Speaking of coincidences, Spitfire would make an interesting Meryl…

High ranking leaders sincere and honest? Wow, you’ve never been a part of the armed forces, have you?

Trust me, that is the exception, not the rule. Having a superior who follows the rules they set down for everyone else is pretty damn rare.

Forgiveness is superb, but let’s be real too. Such a high ranking leader as Spitfire should make every effort to be sincere and honest, especially after her pompous lectures in WA. With her flip-flopping back and forth so much between respectability and shamefulness, it makes me doubt that she can really be trusted, even when she apologizes.

Everyone makes mistakes. Lapses of judgment and such. Forgiveness is a key point of the show, so let’s not be too cruel to them, yeah?

I mean, can you claim you have never made a REALLY bad decision before? Something that you regretted almost as soon as you did it?

You seem to have some sort of bias against them, you could argue that I may have one for them…but I still think the way you describe make it feel like their gonna kidnap Rainbow dash, cut her wings off and then throw her in a dumpster after kicking a puppy. I’m just trying to visualize a reason for their behavior that I believe would be more appropriate of professions who have a conscience.

I simply think their actions were the result desperation and opportunity. For all we know they may have been trying to help rainbow dash by getting her off her subpar team and into the hands of a team they know she wants to be part of
You don’t really believe that, do you? They didn’t care about Dash at all, and they weren’t desperate, they were just selfish, deceitful, manipulative, and maligned. It was entirely immoral, and it’s not a good practice to make such a long list of excuses for reproachable behavior. As for their apology, that’s a good way to save face, but to be frank, they knew better.

Totally immoral is a pretty strong word don’t you think,I’d reserve that word for like murdering a kid or robbing the elderly, trying to convince another flyer you know has potential to win to join your team while trying to replace another injured teammate who may not be up to par for some reason while trying win a competing in which the best rivals from across the nation are competing, immoral? Not excusing it but they apologized and I simply think their actions were the result desperation and opportunity. For all we know they may have been trying to help rainbow dash by getting her off her subpar team and into the hands of a team they know she wants to be part off(still they placed a lot of pressure on the element of loyalty, which they should have known).

The important thing we should take away from this episode is that for the first time we’ve actually seen the internal politics of the Wonderbolts. Seen them as people rather than as the idealized images Rainbow Dash has of them:
  • Spitfire is a hard-charging, rather ruthless commander who’s not afraid to sacrifice her troops in the name of victory.
  • Fleetfoot’s a bit of a suckup “yes pony” serving as Spitfire’s lieutenant. She’s the Silver Spoon to Spitfire’s Diamond Tiara.
  • Soarin’s the weak link of the team, talented but not having his act together.

Oh no. Don’t open that bag. Soon this comment section will dissolve into drama about Spike abuse, Big Mac’s presence in the show, How Blueblood, the only male royal, is a jerk, how Snips and Snails are the only major young male cast members, and all sorts of other debates about the show’s unfortunate implications surrounding the XY gender.
…
My God. I’ve started it. Forgive me.
