Problem with the notes on the Hoity Toity: at the time of the original novels, most of Bond’s drinks were made with potato-based vodkas, hence they all needed to be shaken; the Kina Lillet named as the vodka for said martini was a potato-based vodka used until very recently at which point they simply stopped making it. Secondly, shaking was used in-universe as a way to break up any poisons that were being used. So it was partly style and smug, but also had at least one use.
