That kind of explains the names.
And wow but he seems like an awfully dark character for the ponies to be writing about.
According to an earlier page, he’s a romance novel character named Antonio (evil twin of Franceso).
I think Mebberson stated she drew her between the two queens from Snow White and Sleeping Beauty - clearly hauty and evil in either case.
Comparing her to pictures of the original Maleficent, she doesn’t look like a direct ponification; I’m tagging her as “Evil Queen”.
@Starlight Storm
The Evil Queen of Trottingham? Comparing with >>523683 and >>523684, I’m not sure. Her crown and green coat are the same, but her eye color and outfit are different and she doesn’t have a mohawk.
Read the rest of the comments before you post, bro, there’s an entire conversation (5 pages worth of it!) talking about that very thing.
I would like to point out that separating Scandinavian and Norwegian is incorrect as Norway is, by every definition, part of Scandinavia.
That’s actually Queen Trottingham, which seems like a mixture of Maleficent and the Evil Queen of “Snow White”.
Evil Celestia will appear in the next arc.
I though she’d be more imposing.
More like he took a little bit of existant mithology, created something of his own, mixed all that together in a world directly taken from his imagination, and published it.
Stealing could be ripping off completely Twilight and changing some stuff and giving it a different name… OH WAIT, IT BECAME A BESTSELLING BOOK CALLED 50 SHADES OF GREY!?
There is a difference between stealing and influences.
For example:
The Avatar series was heavily influenced by many different cultures
Fire Nation: Japan
Air Nomads: Tibetans
Water Tribe: Eskimos
Earth Kingdom: Chinese/Mongolians
Sun Warriors: Aztecs
Swampbenders: Bayou people
Guru Vathik: Indian gurus
Hell, in Legend of Korra, Republic City was inspired by 1920’s Hong Kong.
J.R.R. Tolkien was heavily influenced by Scandinavian/Norwegian mythology, Christianity, the Arthurian Legends, Finnish mythology, Celtic mythology, Jules Verne and even Shakespeare.
Everything has an influence. All of our stories are influenced by mythology, the Bible or folktales.
He once stole a city bus.
Anyway, he took what already existed, changed a few words and published it as something new.
HOW WAS J.R.R. TOLKIEN EVEN STEALING IN THE FIRST PLACE!? WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU THINK THAT!?
You can only steal copyrighted stuff now?
How could he steal from something that didn’t have a copyright? Everything is influenced by something else.
Pacific Rim: Godzilla, mecha anime, Ultraman etc
Star Wars: Western films, space operas, Wizard of Oz, Akira Kurosawa etc
Lord of the Rings: Norse/Scandinavian mythology.
“Inspired by” is just a legal term to avoid being sued when you steal something and change a few details.
He was inspired by Norse Mythology. Just like Narnia was inspired by the Bible and how George Lucas was inspired by The Hidden Fortress and Akira Kurosawa when he made Star Wars.
LOTF? LOFT?
Are you talking about LOTR?
Because Tolkien stole pretty much everything from already existing mythology when he made his books.
