Ponies Forever.
It makes me wonder just how much life this fandom has left in it, or if it will ever truly disappear at all. It’ll go strong for as long as the show lasts, but how long will the show continue? Even four seasons is long for an animated series nowadays.
As for the whole “haha, remember those bronies, they watched a children’s show!” thing, let them laugh. Even if the fandom vanished without a trace right here and now I will continue to look back fondly for the remainder of my days. I’ll remember the artwork it produced, the laughs I had, and all the pleasantries that arose. I’ll remember when a gaggle of random people from around the globe were brought together by a cartoon about talking colored horses. I’ll remember the days when you could say with complete seriousness that you wanted to cuddle a brightly-colored pony, rub her tummy, and brush her mane.
Most important, I’ll remember that even if it was only through a computer screen for most, I’ll remember that genuine friendships were woven from the threads of a children’s show. How poetic it was that a show about the magic of friendship united people who never would have even known of each others existence in the first place. How a simple cartoon was able to touch the lives of people in a profound and unexplainable way.
So when those people laugh, I’ll only sit back with a ghost of a smile on my face. As they laugh I’ll be able to fondly say that I enjoyed My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
Some things may never be forgotten completely. Especially something this prominent. But hey, who can tell?
Unfortunately one day the fandom no longer exists and art like this has also disappeared. But the “haha, remember those bronies, they watched a children’s show!” has not disappeared. So let’s enjoy this while it lasts, it’s going to be a rough ride afterwards.
And then I think about the people out there who think it is stupid and a waste of time to be a fan of a children’s show.
I just want to say to them, “You guys are fucking dumb.”
