YOU SAID THERE WAS A HIGH SCHOOL
That’s one of the reasons I got kinda tired of “Horse Power.” They can’t even make one new comic, without a huge fillibuster rant accompanying it either on the site, or in the comic itself.
Actually Katie Cook wrote it. Andy Price is the artist.
Yeah, I might have hated the comic, but Equestria Girls was ok.
The diference between those episodes and the comic was while those episodes were “Looney Tunes-esque”, they only borrowed inspiration and kept that identity that makes FiM what it is. And in the comic… They borrowed every known Bugs Bunny gag, and even worse: ACME products. They weren’t being “Looney Tune-esque”, instead they were trying to become Looney Tunes.
Ok, to each their own, let’s leave it at that. I’m getting tired of debating about it honestly. I don’t hate the comic, or the E.G. movie honestly.
Also, honestly, I felt Lesson Zero, & Feeling Pinkie-Keen were more “Looney Tunes-ish,” but I still enjoyed them. (But that’s just me.)
I’ve read it, and yea the author was disappointed by the comic and don’t enjoyed the movie that much. BUT he enjoyed the movie more than Shining’s Arc.
The movie problems for him was that it took away te magical and fantasy stuff from MLP and made them more mundane. The comic suffered that problem too, but failed even worse because while EqG was focused in a more “realistic” dimension, Shining Armor’s Arc was set in the pony world. And yet it didn’t do anything new save being more cartoonish… Trying to copy Looney Tunes instead of being something more original.
Faust said the “mane 6” are basically “young adults,” like in their 20s, or something, so of course they wouldn’t be in high-school.
Their ages aren’t the same in the “Equestria Girls” alternate world, and don’t perfectly reflect that of the ponyverse, hence why the CMC were older in the E.G. world, and such. Otherwise Cheerilee would be a student to.
Also, I don’t really see any comparison to E.G. in this fan-comic, aside from the brief reference to it in the third panel. I think you’re misreading the intent of it. (Read the stuff in the source link.)
Sorry to bring this up, but:
If there is a High School in Equestria, technically the Mane 6 should be attending it like her Equestria Girls counterparts, it was only brought in that comic for the purpose of a cliche 80’s movie setup. Also, he chose Twilight to compare how basically the comic was the same as Equestria Girls, and while bronies hated the last one, they glorified Andy Price for doing exactly the same but with ponies.
Suit yourself.
I find it funny I’m the only one to downvote this. (Why? It’s partially due to the bitchy nit-picky overtones, using Twilight Sparkle as a mouth-piece for the author’s personal opinions, and trying to imply high-school doesn’t exist in Equestria, when that’s never even been stated in the show/comics. That’s just headcanon bias.)
The cliché ambience, the bad stereotypes being played straight, the horrible attempt of being Looney Tunes, I can keep on going.
I don’t get it.
I also don’t see what was “so bad” about that comic personally.
I don’t are, as long at it bashes that stupid High School comic arc and how it was totally the same as Equestria Girls, except totally dumber (and I admit EqG had a dumb concept to begin with, but pulled out pretty well)
Just seeing to many flaws in the critique of this parody comic. Kinda bugs me.
