Well, it depends what type of scenario that scares you. Amnesia the Dark Descent scares the player by making the persona feel helpless against whatever hostile forces are out there, trying to get you.
 
I have no idea if the pacing gets faster. However, the amount of threats does increase, which increases the amount of encounters where you have to haul ass and hide before your persona’s sanity drops.

Waifu Hoarder
I was singularly unimpressede by the demo, so I never played the full game. Does it just start slow and get better, or does the pace just stay the same all the way through?
