This.
It’s going to kick-in any moment now, and the whole of this will turn out revolting.
But still unfortunate, though.
Ya, if Hasbro was really as bad as some think they would of sued the people behind all the shut down stuff, not just asked them to stop.
I love seeing how much of this fandom has come to the realization that it isn’t Hasbro who is ultimately behind all of this BS.
It’s the stupid copyright laws.
Blame Copyright.
You want to know what should be regulated and made illegal under international law?
The passing of stupid laws like these.
Pertty much, with all the MLP fan stuff shut down it’s really all just Hasbro sending a C&D orders, it’s the legal equivalent of them just saying “Hay, we don’t want to be mean but we need you to stop before there is any trouble.”
What about the Chinese?
China is still an IP Wild West.
Hasbro, and possibly many other companies aren’t truly evil with the stupid copyright laws. I bet many would wish to adapt to the internet age. But these dinosaur entities, such as Hollywood, RIAA, WMG, Fox, Disney, and Viacom are making the G’ovt uphold these outdated and making it worse by the year. As long as these overgrown sauropods and T-Rex don’t face extinction, progress will never get anywhere good.
@Prof.NightJack
Don’t forget the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Then they could still send the C&D orders to the Japanese artist, the just treaties(also called international copyright laws, just treaties sgrement) are followed based on country the copyright comes from.
That’s why we should find some way to get Japanese 3rd party guys to make much of the fan projects for us.
It’s more a problem of the U.S. copyright laws, the Japanese copyright laws are not the same, and there really isn’t such a thing as international copyright laws, just treaties.
How so?
No. No. It’s stupid.
Warner Brothers apparently can C&D an educational program that uses Harry Potter books to help with grammar.
Because copyright law is stupid.
“Oh, someone who isn’t you is using your copyright? I guess you don’t want it anymore!”
Okay, it’s not stupid, but it often pops up at the WORST times.
