Actually, modern guns don’t need an atmosphere to work because bullets come with their own oxidizer. Saylut 3, a Soviet military space station(the only one of its kind to ever actually be used) had an anti-spacecraft gun on it to shoot down enemy satellites or even manned vehicles. It was tested on an old satellite, and it worked. Besides, a dedicated space gun might not even use conventional fuels.
