You know how I said that I was expecting Scootaloo to get her cutie mark? I was also hoping that the other two would as well, and that their act would end up centering around each of their talents (Scootaloo’s scooter, Sweetie Belle’s singing, and Apple Bloom’s carpentry), culminating in them finally getting the point. But if that does happen, that’ll probably happen later.
 
…Speaking of which, when Meghan McCarthy was asked if the CMC would receive their cutie marks in season 4, she responded, “Maybe in season 5.” And, well, if there’s going to be a season 5, now would probably be about the time they’d start production on it, so maybe she was hinting at it.

I gotta be honest and say I actually enjoy that they’re now actively, subtly dicking with hardcore fans. Although anyone that was really taken by this is awfully gullible.
 
Come on people we all know several things:  
-There is no way in hell the CMC aren’t getting them all together, it’s just not gonna happen.  
-They’re going to make a big deal out of it, they’ll be significant build up and hinting. Hell it might even be a multi-parter centered on the event.  
-It’s probably going to happen toward the end of the series or at least the end of a season when it’s unclear if they’ll be renewed.
 
I won’t entirely rule out it might happen this season, but if it does I suspect it will occur at the very end probably as a part of the games themselves.

The writers of the episodes so far are becoming real pricks and teases with Season 3 and 4. I personally blame Meghan McCarthy and Monsieur Larson for most of the undeniably insane and fucked up scenes and events that made no sense and had a huge effect on the brony community. If Jhonen Vasquez was the writor of the show, MLP would be grimdark as fuck and get cancelled after half of season 2. Speaking of which.. isn’t Chrysalis and the Changelings already based on the Nightmarish artwork and manga done by Hideshi Hino and Junko Mizuno?

I thought the bait-and-switch was one of the best parts of the episode. I literally laughed out loud when this happened.

This episode’s ending is fine though. It is just that they pulled the wool over our eyes at the last second. I mean, seriously. This would have became the best episode in the show if they had given Scootaloo her cutie mark at that moment. But they didn’t. Because they enjoy watching us suffer…

Actually, Mare-Do-Well’s ending kind of knocked it down a peg. I mean, they were doing Rainbow Dash so well and then she just instantly forgave her friends for tormenting her.
 
It’s still an okay episode though.

There have been two instances in this show where the ending managed to severely weaken the episode for me (MMMystery on the Friendship Express and Games Ponies Play). But I’m still able to enjoy watching the episodes for the stuff that comes before the ending. Doesn’t change the fact that the endings to those episodes make them my least favorite episodes in the entire series (yes, even more than Mare-Do-Well or Spike at Your Service. Mare-Do-Well was just “meh,” and I actually legitimately liked Spike at Your Service).

This episode was doing so well. It was so close to being perfect but then at this moment it smashed in to a wall of FAIL

That was my EXACT reaction. It didn’t help that I had predicted that she would get her cutie mark in this episode, so I was hoping to get a chance to say, “CALLED IT!”
