The only ship in that picture I have a hard time imagining working is Pinkie and Rarity.

But I really love how their tails are intertwined in the upper right picture. Not sure why, but it’s my favorite thing about this.

I suppose so. One of the hardest parts of romance is figuring out whether the attraction is mutual or not. I can see Rainbow being oblivious while Fluttershy worries that she might upset her if she says anything about it, leading to an awkward little hurdle. Twishy would be even worse, since it pairs two of the most socially awkward ponies there are. But once those problems are resolved, you get a cute pairing.
 
Now, I think you’ve got some interesting insights on Raripie. I admit that while it’s one of my favourite pairings, I haven’t given that much thought as to how it would work out, but I can imagine what you’re saying actually happening. Rarity seems like the kind of pony who has a better understanding of romance than the others, and she’s one of the few who would probably be both able and willing to help Pinkie become more mature in that way and others.

You seem like the right person to discuss this with. I actually figured out what my main beef is with flutter dash. They have trouble reading each other’s subtleties.  
Another thing that I found interesting about raripie is that while Pinkie Pie has trouble empathizing with others and seeing things from their perspective, Rarity can be very understanding and probably has the highest capacity for putting up it that and maybe eve teaching Pinkie to be more understanding.

Here, I can help. For Flutterdash, their personalities are very complimentary to each other. Fluttershy is timid and meek, but can be brave when she needs to be, whereas Rainbow is fierce and daring, but has a soft side as well. Each one is strong where the other one is weak, and while they’re different enough to make an interesting pairing, they’re also close enough in some ways to get along. I can understand that you have your preferences, but I’d prefer it if you weren’t to dismiss any pairings as without merit.
 
As for Raripie, I suppose they both are smarter than they seem at first glance, and Rarity’s seriousness contrasts Pinkie’s carefree nature. I don’t have time to give more thorough analysis right now, though.
