They had a song. Honestly I think the whole Chrystal Empire thing was done to death in Season 3.
The librarian got a little bit; I rather liked her, actually.
IIRC, none of them got any kind of character development. Unless you count Cadence, but she doesn’t even have most of the crystal pony features.
In the same vein that Luna Eclipsed was an Applejack episode.
