Having multiple sets of writers is a great way to keep the series fresh, and it’s good that Cook/Price and Nufer/Mebberson/Hickey have different approaches to their stories, and as such, to each their own. I completely agree that the Nuhfer’s got a much better handle on writing the ponies as the characters the show sets them to be and worries less about inserting cultural gags, but at the same time, I do find her pacing a bit odd (there’s ways I would have arranged #13 slightly differently). On the other hand Cook/Price have the timing elements down with great flow, but they do tend to skimp on character in favor of the gag. It is not that Cook doesn’t write them in character, but there’s not too much extrapolation from the show, while Nuhfer seems to be able to keep the characters in line but in situations far from the show.
Basically, because of having so many writers and artists here, the comic’s going to be able to stay fresh for a long time, a problem with series that have a singular writer and artist throughout the run.
Roronoa Zoro does it all the time.
RD being able to talk without dropping the sword. That’s interesting. (Where as in S1, a character dropped something while trying to talk.)
And that is why I like Nuhfer, and a few of the writers for the micro series, so much more than Cook/Price, who would have just taken the fan made joke and run with it. She tells an interesting story rather than try and break a record for most references per square inch from issue to issue. I do quite enjoy Hickey’s action panels in the issue as well, the use of onomatopoeia works a lot better here than it did in the AJ issue, it just feels more natural. I just love everything about these panels.
I don’t find the Rarity Fighting a Giant Crab meme to be offensive and if the comic played a little bit on it, I would laugh a little.
How ever, there a lot of other memes I wouldn’t mind seeing go away, like the chickun meme.
There’s a lot of memes from this fandom that need to be buried.
Oh, there she is.
Also, if Rarity doesn’t handle this….
Nope, the crab become a crucial part in the army of pinkie crabs
TUNE IN NEXT MONTH!
Also, I really need to get this comic.

And you must attack its weak point for massive damage.
