Still… it’s not exactly a great idea for an alicorn princess to potentially join in shenanigans like this for the sake of her own hubris.
Not just an armed criminal, but an armed criminal who is pathetically easy to manipulate.
Good job on that one Celestia…
This is kind of a razor line because I agree that Twilight’s title shouldn’t be front-and-center in every episode. Yet completely ignoring it doesn’t feel right either.
I’ve already scratched my head at how often the Mane 6 are disrespected after they saved the land several times over. Are ponies really going to talk back or insult a princess?
@Masem
Similar thing going on here. I’m glad her friends are treating her any differently. As for this pirate pony, I get that he wouldn’t care to show reverence towards an authority figure. Kinda undoes that whole pirate theme.
I’d just like for a quick exchange. Something like:
“Fair warning, highness, this ship’s not for the pampered.”
“I’ll be fine, thank you.”
Ah, gotcha, my fault.
I do agree that if they randomly throw “Princess” Twilight around in stories and episodes and do nothing that addresses her new responsibilities, that’s a problem. So far I don’t see that here - this is Twi hanging with her homies.
I hope she keeps it for the comics.
What? No. Wings are physical properties, that’s not going anywhere and I love it. I meant her title/crown/social status/job. Sorry, I wasn’t clear.
So what, take away the wings for an episode?
Should we take away Fluttershy’s wings if she doesn’t fly during an episode?
IDW’s editor says they’re trying to stay consistent with the show and since winged Twilight is the new reality, she’s going to be winged, whether she flies or not.
I’m all for the new story avenues, but if her being a princess isn’t necessary for some stories then I think not shoving it into those is a pretty safe move.
I hope not. Drama aside, I think Twilight’s new role opens up some story avenues. If it gets ignored 90% of the time, then it’ll feel like a waste.
Well, he only has one eye.
that stuff if for the first two episodes of season 4, outside of them no one in universe cares about she having wings.
It would have taken her another two pages to get up there.
Either this pirate has very poor powers of observation, or Twilight will have wings in this story but will never acknowledge them. In fact, why isn’t she flying on to the deck?
Yup, that’s what I mean, in that case it is being pressed up against her neck to look higher. A Mebberson example I’d come to is this:
where you can see that her mane and hair’s given a lot more curl than on the show (and having vectored her enough, it’s glaring obvious in the difference for me :)
What ‘‘is’’ odd is that her mane is showing on both sides in some panels (eg last one on middle row), as in show, it always drops to one side. It’s justified in the first panel as it looks windswept, but not in that 5th one.
if you see harder, part of her hair is being covered by the pirate hoof.
I think it’s not so much a “bang” like in her coronation hairdo, but just that the loose ends of her mane are being drawn more curlier than normal (Amy Mebberson did that in the Nightmarity arc for Twilight, and Brenna Hickey, drawing here, may have picked up on that).
what? her hair looks no different.
Clearly, they’ve yet to make up their minds about that aspect of her design.
