How droll that Celestia’s flees at the first sign of major civil unrest. She wields godlike power and the military seems to be steadfastly loyal to her. I would submit that Twilight’s emerging legitimacy as an authority figure (and to a lesser extent, Luna’s willingness to enter the political fray) is the cornerstone of plausibility of such an unlikely scenario.

I also can’t help but smirk at the inclusion of Snowflake and Derpy as the leaders of fringe political elements (in this case, the Equestrian Fascist Party and the Sun-Ripened Warm Muffin Party, respectively).
