I dunno, “Scootaloo is ashamed that her parents are Earth ponies” would make for a Very Special Episode. I wouldn’t put it past the writers, though, and it fits her tough-girl-who’s-afraid-to-admit-her-weaknesses persona.
 
Actually, it’d be pretty boss if that’s the direction the S4 “Scoots can’t fly” episode takes.

My Little Pony - 1992 Edition

Scootaloo being an “earthpony-born” Pegasus would actually explain her inability to fly–not that she’s physically incapable, but because she’s had no one to teach her how. That’d also explain her infatuation with Rainbow Dash.
 
Of course, the question is, if RD knew Scootaloo had no flight instructor, why in Celestia’s name hasn’t she stepped up to the job? You know, Element of Loyalty and all that?
