The intent of this drawing being posted here (by the artist himself) is to show a drawing that features Discord. It just so happens that there are non-FiM characters in it.
Because of this intent, I wouldn’t consider this “Not pony related”.
This is not a meme like the “TV meme” that can very easily be non-pony related or “obligatory pony”.
Since when? I don’t see it anywhere on the rules, and literally every “barely pony related” pic is only marked that because either a) they don’t have any actual MLP characters on them or b) are little background references in otherwise not-pony images.
Discord is right here, front and center, therefore it’s pony related.

I think you’d find if you actually asked, the rules for what counts as barely pony related wouldn’t include legitimate drawings of characters from the show.

I’m reading what you’re typing. It’s just that it is nonsense. The “barely pony related” tag has always been used for pictures of ponies (not even necessarily Gen IV ponies) shoehorned into images or otherwise stuck just to have an excuse to post here (TV memes and the like); or little artist sneakaways that are included in otherwise completely unrelated images (like this).
A full bust drawing of one of the major characters of the show does not start being “barely pony related” just because it has other characters from something else in it as well.
Uh… I’m sorry, but that’s stupid. If there’s a character from FiM on it, then it’s related to FiM, and, by our site’s standards, pony-related.
You can’t even make the argument that this is less pony related since Discord “isn’t interacting”, since he’s clearly the focus of the picture.

It’s barely pony related because a single character is surrounded by characters that are not related to MLP. They aren’t talking each other, they aren’t interacting in anyway. If they did, the tag wouldn’t be necessary. But they aren’t, ergo, ‘barely pony related.’
How is this “barely pony related?” Discord is right there!
Is it because he’s not a pony? By that logic, shouldn’t every solo picture of Discord be barely pony related? Would that make solo pictures of other non-pony MLP characters “barely pony related?” Would that make cosplay photos, humanized pictures, and species swaps “barely pony related?”
Is every image that doesn’t have an actual pony on it, even when it’s clearly directly related to the show “not pony related?”
Then your definition for what constitutes “barely pony related,” which apparently includes a drawn picture of a character from the show, is ridiculous.

I know this is for ponies. But having one character that is in the show doesn’t mean I should have all of these thumbing downs. I feel like this art is offending every viewer in a second. As if they do not want unrelated characters in a single friggin picture. :|

That’s a picture of Discord. Not a TV meme. Not a Photoshop or TV meme or whatever. I have no reason to believe he didn’t draw it. There’s nothing “barely-pony-related” about it regardless of who else is in it.
