She could be but the rumors I’ve heard (like, 4 or 5 links removed from the original source so could be way off) describe her as AJ’s cousin, not AB’s cousin (even though she would be cousins to both). That sorta implies the same age.

It’s a good comic but I wish it were done in GlancoJusticar’s style. That would be an insane amount of win.

What if pony!Sunflower is a little filly like Babs?

And to note, it’s honestly not a bad story in terms of what it was trying to do. Okay, RBD and PP are a bit thrown to the side, but the story around Rarity, AJ, and Fluttershy - with Sunflower and Babs at the focal point - is rather complex.
 
But it could have been done the same with just a few changes of character and avoiding using the CMC/DT/SS as background characters in this.

Well, I’m speaking for the comic as a whole, just using the example that they are knowingly fucking with ages – AND ignoring the fact that if the Mane 5 are freshmen then why are the CMC (and later, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon) in this at all?
 
It’s not a small slip, this is like – ugh, just think a bit before you randomly include known characters. None of the CMC or DT/SS are critical to the story - any random character works there, but shoehorning them in - and then aging up Babs, it’s.. just bad writing.

However, I think this comment would be more effective if the picture itself had anything to do with Babs. Instead, it features Rainbow Dash and Applejack.

To comment - I can understand the need for this story to have an antagonist that AJ needed to be friendly with but that would otherwise be mean to others (FS in this case). But there was no reason to age up Babs for this purpose.
 
Sunflower (who is reported rumor as an S4 character in an episode as AJ’s cousin) really would have worked by herself as the antagonist as long as she got a clique of students to be with her (a mean-girls group) that Rarity would want to be in if only for the fashion stuff. AJ would have still had the connection to make her feel part of it , and we wouldn’t have had to touch Babs as to keep her age close to the CMC’s.
 
I can understand a few oops (like Big Mac being in the class), but not this. This is really really sloppy.
