Mary Sue used to mean “an author-insert character created specifically as a perfect, unblemished, infallible love interest for a canon character”. Now, it means “any overpowered character I don’t like”, which could literally be applied to anyone.

I am not saying that Project Horizons was realistic. That is laughable. And I agree, it has definitely lost a lot of its charm in recent times, probably because the author got kicked out of his job and is starving to death.
I am saying it was realistic compared to FoE.

Littlepip, whenever she hit a problem, would get close enough to just brush with the harsh reality before she suddenly pulled an idea or opportune ally out of her ass.
And then probably whine about her experience for the next five chapters.

Her biggest failure was the death of Steelhooves, really. Which happened after she had deceived an omniscient goddess with an army of living superweapons, nuked her (and conveniently enough, the Enclave) and somehow survived the blast of magically powered hellfire because the incurable, horrifying, toxic Taint poisoning had actually given her an incredibly advanced healing ability instead of the usual agonising deformity and illness.

Blackjack on the other hand, when faced with Taint, caught cancer, and died.

Around that time, I believe that Littlepip was crying and whining without end after having killed some murderous cannibals who had been feeding their kids their own fathers.

PH is more realistic? Are you kidding me? I can’t even… you know ‘darker’ and ‘grimmer’ aren’t “more realistic” right? Hell, the way the fic deals with topics like rape are far from realistic for one. At least the original was a little more respectful to that topic. How was it Blackjack got over being brutally raped herself? Oh yeah, random sex with a stranger who, get this, turned out to be the batpony prince of a secret underground kingdom. Then that character was tossed out with a half dozen others because the writer realized he had gotten distracted 20 chapters earlier and lost the plot somewhere along the way.

More realistic. Ha. Depth. HA! Blackjack, Cooler? Only as a graduate of the academy of mary-sues. PH might have been great once but it fell from glory over a year ago and at least 20-30 chapters ago. Are there actually people still taking the thing seriously?

Everything bad that happen to Littlepip in the whole Fallout Equestria is pretty much what happen to Blackjack in one chapter.

I was being glib for humorous effect… it is a very good side story. It just makes Littlepip’s story seem like stroll through a field of sunshine and daisies by comparison. Alot more characters die in gruesome ways, and the main character suffers tangible injuries that do more than symbolically scar her…

That is not an accurate account of events in Project Horizons.
Even if it is pretty much all horrible things happening to Blackjack. It has a lot more depth than that though.
I would say it is very similar to FoE, only darker and more realistic. And longer. And more intense.

Horrible things happen to Blackjack for 60 chapters. Also rape. Alot of rape.
