Well, there is. Doesn’t mean I don’t like the current characters.
““There’s an entire library of characters that need personality.[](#comment_52458d08a4c72d9c2c00b51d)
Where did I say I didn’t like characters?
If you don’t like the characters, why are you here?
But the thing is that he was wanting to be a guard his whole life. Since way before he was in high school.
A lot of my nerdy gamer friends from highschool ended up joining the military after graduation in spite of not having a physical/sports background (some were kind of delusional gun nuts with weird power fantasies; others just needed the money). At least one got killed shortly thereafter.
Kind of agreed. I really don’t see how taking a stock character archetype and playing it straight is anything new, but okay.
It doesn’t even make sense for the stereotype since he’s not stereotyphysically unattractive and has been shown to have been aspiring towards being a royal guard from a young age, so a lack of physical training in his formative years makes no sense.
I get it, they didn’t want to make him perfect captain of the polo team and everything. But god, they didn’t NEED to make him a delusional nerd.
Wow, and I thought I was the only one who hated “Nerdy Lamemor”.
Seriously, was it really hard to make him more the “average partner you meet at school” without need to make him the “popular” or the “nerd” stereotype?
And if you’re making him a nerd, at least don’t turn him into a pathetic loser noone (save the Stereotypical “Popular Kind Hearted Popular Girl”, which Cadance delivered a lot much more better) cares except for bashing him for being nerd.
You don’t have to be athletic at all to be a coach.
@Star Cavalcade
Personally feel they didn’t do all they could with Celestia’s.
Rarity one was good but wrapped up too nicely for me. Too convenient, should have been a two parter.
The way she writes for her own comic, Gronk, made me think she’d be able to handle Spike’s well. Very similar character developments and a real idea what they would act like. Oh well.
Since the micro is about Luna taking over Celestia’s position, we’ll probably see more about their relationship, how they coexist and why Luna is so competitive with her sister.
In hindsight, this scene plays out a little differently.
“I’m a jock! Time to fail my classes and make out with the cheerleaders!”
I guess so.
@Star Cavalcade
Think that was a bit overblown personally, but I agree. Would have loved their micros to be about their sisterly relationship, but ah well.
Which micro are you thinking she’d do “really well on”? And what was your opinion of the Rarity micro?
The whole point of the JfS/GPP arc was to keep Spike out because he wouldn’t be distracted like the Mane Six were. If he were there, GPP would have been over in five minutes.
Luna never seems to have had a consistant personality, either in the show or in the comics, and if she was to have one that sticks from the comics, I’d rather it be the funloving competitive one than the depressed and guilty one.
So he just finds Chrysalis more interesting? That’s disappointing.
Okay then, we do need two then, you need one to STAY the straight man.
Perhaps one of the biggest Chrysalis fanboys I’ve ever seen.
Spike, when his mature side is showing.
Aw, Price does? Why?
The one micro she’d actually do really well on is being done by someone else. Both of them are unrepentant Lunafans and I worry about that micro.
