I only wish we saw more of Ponyville’s reaction to the swapped marks (it’d be funny too). And maybe have the Mane five ironically be all “Has the whole town gone crazy?” Heck, I have a idea for a fic that’s Magical Mystery Cure WITHOUT the musical-ness to it and showing how it can work.

Oh, sorry; I wasn’t clear enough with my comment. I meant to use your wife’s reaction as an example of how some people had a really positive reaction to parts of the episode; my vague phrase “moments such as this” was meant to refer to both the Pinkie Pie scene above and how it affected your wife.

And I’m not trying to deride the people who hate MMC; I’m genuinely wondering if they can understand (or have considered) why some people can love this episode in spite of its flaws. (At least a couple can, judging from their comments, but some seem to think the only way to like MMC is to have lower standards.)

I can understand why some people look at this episode’s lax world-building (to the point it can be claimed to contradict earlier episodes), rushed plotting, and sudden climactic ascension of Twilight Sparkle and decide they can’t like it. I wonder if those same people can understand how moments such as this allow other people to overlook those flaws and like the episode.

This part moved my wife to tears. When you’re very silly but very shy, sometimes it means more than anything to be able to make such a positive impression on others. :)

That has got to be the most uplifting, smile inducing moment I felt in the entire show. When they shouted ‘Pinkie’ I just wanted to pump my fist in the air and say ‘YEAH’! (I actually watched this part a few times after I first watched the episode.)

Regardless of some of the hate this episode gets, I thought this part was kinda cute/heart-warming to. Considering how cranky/sad the ponies got without Pinkie’s silly/funny antics around Ponyville, it shows that even though she can be a li’l crazy, and get on their nerves sometimes, that deep-down Ponyville loves Pinkie, and they do need her around.
