He said he doesn’t wear a fedora.

Honestly, I’m inclined to agree with him, fedora shaming is stupid. Sure, they might not look too great, but insulting people for what they wear is just stupid no matter how you put it.

Fedora-wearing is targeted because there are a great deal of bronies who are also hipsters, which is a much-maligned group of self-important asses who think wearing thrift shop clothing and listening to Wilco makes you better than everyone else.

Or so says the proletariat. The jury’s still out for me on the subject.

Fedora wearers and bronies are targets of hatred because they are being used for surrogates of protected groups. Since it’s illegal in many places to say hateful things about certain groups, hateful people pick random unprotected groups to attack.

I don’t wear a fedora but people can wear whatever they want. Fedora shaming is a symptom of a shallow, petty, hateful society.

It will be nice if some day hateful people will lose the power their hateful “propaganda” (comments, image macros, etc.) has over marginalized groups.

Block and ignore any and all hateful people, please!

Indeed. I wouldn’t be half as cool as I am now without this fine piece of headgear.

@FancyCat2008
I don’t think any of those things are specifically tacked on to the negative stereotype of a brony, nor to being a ‘bad person’.

It’s more to imply someone is sad and unsuccessful, or just taking his fandom a little too seriously.

Brony stereotypes confuse me. The overweight, neckbeard part I get, but that’s true of almost any nerdy fandom… but what do liking fedoras have to do with My Little Pony? Or this “friendzone” crap? Or the implication that any of these factors somehow makes you a bad person?
