If you only count the blocks, it’s 172 episodes. The 30 minute blocks were made up of 1-3 titled segments. I think those total 328. But however you count it, it ran for a really long time. Most of the audience for the final season probably wasn’t born yet when the show premiered.

Mate we are all animals on the evolutionary scale of things. I feel as long as they are of age, wiling and capable of reason and logic, then why not have a relationship with them? Two things:  
First off, Buttons mother has become a hit because she’s shown as a caring mother to an ‘average’ video game playing child, as well as being hinted as a ‘geek’ in her youth. Playing Video games and knowing “Sci-fi” languages. Something fairly rare in characters.

Different BP here. I figure the heart wants what the heart wants. I’ve had rehab birds that were imprinted on me. It didn’t matter to those birds one bit that the difference from bird:me was an order of magnitude greater than the difference from human:FiM pony. And we know from Equestria Girls that Twilight Sparkle was willing to overlook the pony:human difference once she got to know some. Not to mention the implication of Flash having been Sunset’s boytoy for more than a little while.
 
To me, they are basically six of my best friends (well, plus the more adorable secondary and background ponies). They can think, love, talk, consent, etc. Who better for a lover than someone you love spending time with even without it being physical? I mean, would you divorce your otherwise-perfect wife if she happened to get down on all fours and ask you for doggie style, or decided to become a feminist and let her leg hair grow? But if your heart doesn’t want one of your six best friends, because she’s physically not your type, that’s fine too. The heart doesn’t want what it doesn’t want, too.
 
(For my part, I don’t entirely see why Button’s Mom has become such a huge fandom hit all of a sudden. She’s about average cute for a background earth pony, nothing more. Maybe after a few more episodes of Button Mash I’ll change my mind.)

Yeah, I kinda see what you mean.  
When I see pony erotica, it’s weird. It’s trying to be sexy, but you can’t ignore the fact that it’s on 4 legs, has a snout, and it’s still an animal.  
Humanized on the other hand has all the things someone would find attractive. They might be based on pony-characters, but they are still human.  
Antro though, I don’t know what to think.

Personally, I find non-anthro pony erotica cute and silly, so it’s still appealing even if it isn’t actually erotic. Still… there’s still a weird allure to it all sometimes. Like when you’re watching Fantasia and you see the centaur girl step out of the water for the first time. Your brain just can’t quite relinquish its grip on the sexuality of it all, regardless of what it’s attached to. Okay, MY brain can’t, at least.
