Sibsy specifically said that any background ponies that they put in human form are obvious and intentional, and that any other humans that may look like bg ponies is strictly coincidence.
 
Basically, outside of: mane 6, spike, celestia, luna, trixie, vinyl, derpy, photo finish, the CMC, cheerilee, big mac, granny smith, diamond tiara, silver spoon, snips, snails, sunset shimmer, and flash sentry, (I think that’s the full list), any other human character is a brand new persona they created for the film.
 
They did hint at SDCC that we may see the pony versions of these new humans in #4 (as bg ponies, natch)

I think the nerdy kid with the “square root of heart” pocket protector is supposed to be Featherweight.

Why the quality is so good?

The pink-skinned girl on the right, with the googie patterns on her skirt and yellow scarf, has a really cute design. Does she have a name yet?  
If not, I hereby dub her “Faire Way”, a human relation to Allie Way due to the similar cutie mark.
