Also, keeping such things alive will be a reminder to other gaming companies not to try to do such a thing themselves.

Sony was smart enough to see what Microsoft was doing and how much it was (going to) affect(ing) them and made sure to NOT do all the same types of things with the PS4. As a result, tons of people, including huge XBox fans (even ones like Angry Joe and such, people who were pure XBox up to this point) vowed to drop Microsoft and the XB1 for the PS4 if things weren’t fixed, and made pre-order sales for PS4-related things just explode compared to XB1 stuff. An individual PS4 Dualshock 4 controller, and even Animal Crossing for the 3DS was outselling entire XB1 bundles on Amazon, GameStop, and Best Buy (and when a single 3DS game is outselling entire bundles of your next-gen console, you’re doing something VERY wrong), because Sony was doing things in favor of the gaming community as a whole and not for a small percentage.

Sure, Sony is also a company seeking to make the most money possible, but at least they were doing it in a SMART way, that they could do things in favor of the gaming community while still making a big profit. After all, no point in thinking “big profit” if barely anyone wants anything to do with your product in the first place.

It may seem stupid to keep talking about it to you and some others, but if anything, it’s how so easily forgiving a number of consumers are and acting like Microsoft made the changes “for them” when they were the last thing on their mind that is stupid.

Microsoft only made the changes for the money because they saw how much of an impact their initial BS policies were making after seeing the early pre-order sales; policies that, even during E3, the biggest time to try to get consumers to buy your product later, they continued to (rudely) defend in vague ways, even saying that the policies COULDN’T be changed, despite the wave of negative reaction to it.

So for them to try to act like they did this “for the gamers” is an insult to our intelligence because it’s clear they assumed that (hardcore) “gamers” were mostly unintelligent/uneducated morons who would buy whatever they shoved in our face without actually paying attention to how it worked and assuming what negativity there might be would just blow over. The only way to make sure they don’t pull such crap again in the future (if they even have one after this) is to keep reminding them that we remember and know they tried pull one over on us and that we’re watching them. If people just so easily forgive and forget, they’ll only try to do it again in the future and might get away with it that time.
