Uh, I don’t smoke pot, but that “life destroying addiction risk” is fucking nil. I’m sorry if you think it ruined your mothers life, but your ONE personal experience (which you’re very likely falsely attributing to pot; I seriously doubt your mother was fine to begin with if pot fucked her life up) doesn’t trump the reality that’s readily available for everyone else a science to examine.
Still, the risk of a life-destroying addiction is too high. While, yes, there are medical applications, but they should be administered by a trained medical professional. Allowing ‘patients’ to self administer is a bad idea because of how humans are hardwired to do pleasurable things more often.
I’m sincerely sorry to hear that.
Though as I’ve said before: personal examples/experiences do not equal absolute truths…because if that were the case, I could assert that all Australians were assholes to New Zealanders, because when I lived in Australia, alot of Australians were assholes to me because I was a New Zealander.
I know that my personal experiences do not account for everything, thus I cannot in good conscience consider my experiences to be absolute truths on the matter of how Australians and New Zealanders relate to each other.
I lived with people who nearly ruined their lives with this stuff. One of them was my mother.
Do you have a peer-reviewed study to back up your assertion?
ahem

Meta-analysis of cannabis based treatments for neuropathic and multiple sclerosis-related pain
It doesn’t directly kill people, but it can lead to suicide. Therefore, that big fat zero of yours is a big fat lie.
and yet, the total number of attributed deaths to Marijuana is…0
Yep, pot has yet to kill anyone, which makes it safer than both tobacco and alcohol.
Pretty sure most of the users are actually abusing it/taking it recreationally as opposed to medicinally.
The medicinal uses are numerous and mostly well-established by legitimate research. There are better alternatives available for some, but not all, of those uses, e.g., Canasol eye drops instead of smoked cannabis for glaucoma, or oxycodone for pain. As an appetite stimulant and anti-nausea drug, it’s basically unparalleled, although those effects are not separable from its euphoric effects. (Endocannabinoid system inhibitors were briefly used as diet drugs for severe obesity about 5 years ago. They were withdrawn because they caused a very high suicide rate. Blocking the ability of endocannabinoids to signal hunger was not separable from their effect to block the ability of the brain to experience happiness.) That cannabis is smoked is another part of why it works so well in those capacities. Requiring someone who can’t keep down a mouthful of water to swallow a pill for nausea doesn’t work. So, to allow its therapeutic use for vomiting chemotherapy patients, you have to also allow them to get high. Why is that a problem? We use morphine for pain all the time and that gets people very, very high.
Its uses as a painkiller are the most uncertain and also the most abused. It seems to have some painkiller effect, but far better alternatives exist (several of which will also get the user far more intoxicated). The vast majority of “medicinal” users are just stoners using an unverifiable claim of “pain” to get a permit. However, if that’s a necessary evil to make cannabis available to deathly ill chemotherapy patients, then so be it.
The “medicinal” purposes are few and their effects are debatable. There are far better alternatives available but some like to choose cannabis because of it’s easier to acquire. The “medical” tag doesn’t save it
How d’ya think she satiffy her munchies?
Fluttershy: Dude, that’s like totally a “could eat a pony in one bite” dragon. It’ll be gnarly to make the dude cry.
I think you’re wrong there. Especially since medicinal uses have only been known for a few years, and people have been using and abusing it since they discovered it could be added to tobacco for extra effect.
Pot is mostly used for medicinal purposes.
It’s not a matter of whether they’re harmless or not to me, they don’t have my respect.
Most pot users are harmless. It’s possible to get addicted to it but you really have to be trying to.
