“It says here that the bones should knit back together stronger than they were prior,” the mahogany-furred pegasus exclaimed from his hospital bed as he read from a volume of a medical encyclopedia. The ruffled feathers on his broken right wing fluttered gently as he spoke, the white plaster bandages and green sling holding it and the wing aloft from his body boldly standing out against the browns and tans of his body.
“Ah s’pose that’s good tah know,” the earth pony in the bed next to the pegasus spoke with a mix of genuine happiness and pain. The plaster bandages that covered every part of him, save his muzzle and eyes, forced his limbs and body into a position that made speaking strenuous.
“Very! It’s great news for both of us,” the pegasus sounded very pleased with his discovery, “think how strong your bones will be after they heal!”
The only part of the earth pony that could move, his mouth and eyes, contorted into a kind of awkward grimace of optimistic anxiety, “Ah’m not sure that how that works, at least fer me. Could we maybe change that subject away from skeletal structures?”
“Sounds good! Let’s get into the chapter about tendons!”
“Ah meant…erm… okay fine”, the earth pony conceded as his muzzle slunk down in his neck brace. It was going to be a long week with this fella, but it was nice to have the company regardless.
